What is a Bowl Temperament Type?

Bowl Temperament Types were first discussed in Marc Edmund Jones’s “The Guide to Horoscope Interpretation.” 1 Most of his books are found rather cheaply on AbeBooks, which is not an Amazon affliate but one of the few independent book publishers on the Net, which explains why most search engines do not give their results. The only problem with Abe is they do not accept PayPal, but the prices are phenomenal so you can pick up basic Marc Jones library —the Guide to Horoscope Interpretation, How to Learn and How and Why Astrology Works—for about $20.00: the Essentials and Sabian Symbols are excepted and can run about $25.00 sans shipping apiece.

A Bowl Temperament Type is the geometric shape of a personal chart, though Bowls do show up in Mundane charts as well, but Marc Jones only defined them for people, not events. Astrologer Donna Cunningham is a western-biased bowl, because bowls can lie in any of the four cardinal directions — north, south, east and west — each direction highlighting the specific personality emphasis of the person.

Bowl’s can also have rim oppositions which work as a steadying element in their chart, or lack a rim, like Donna above and President William McKinley below. Here these people are open to too many influences and so are easily overwhelmed because they can neither delegate nor prioritize.

C120 The will to succeed – Barbra Streisand

Meeting Barbra

Despite her odd spelling name, she was born Barbara Joan Streisand and decided to drop an “A” as it would be quirky and noticeable. She was born on April 25 1942 in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, then an Orthodox enclave. She gave an homage to that closed world in “Yentl”, where a young girl dresses as a man so she too can read the Torah and Talmud, the foundations of their faith. This article from My Jewish Learning gives a fuller understanding of their beliefs and identity.

Mapping Vivian Maier

Photographer Vivian Maier takes a lot of self-portraits, so much so that it is rather overwhelming while watching the cult movie “Finding Vivian Maier,” by John Maloof and Charlie Siskel.

Maloof realized he found something good in 2007 when he bought the contents of Maier’s derelict storage locker at auction (for $380), and discovered 100,000 negatives, 700 rolls of color film, and 2,000 rolls of black-and-white film, taken during the decades that Maier worked as a nanny for wealthy families in New York and Chicago. he then set out to find her, and couldn’t which is wild as she was still alive, dying in 2009 at the age of 83.

The key to the Maier cult is that she never published a thing during her life — instead, she stored it all away and that she took her Rolleiflex everywhere with her, on her various nanny jobs and eventually around the world.

What we learn is that she was born in Brooklyn New York on February 1, 1926. She had a brother and we learn from the film a family in France and she was tall and took photos of street life. Not much more, but we do see a lot of her photography in the film and learn how Maloof became totally entranced by this celluloid goddess. that’s about it.

This chart has been rectified for an Ascendant of 18 Sagittarius with her camera, Mars at Sagitarrius 25, right by its side.  She is a Western Bowl Temperament Type that highlights her resourcefulness much like sewing aficionado Nancy Zieman.  Her bowl with a rimmed opposition from the Moon in the Ninth (travelling for education) and Venus in the Third (seeing it through a keen eye) but it the scoop,  seeing the world from the two generational planets of Neptune in the Eighth, capturing bits of forgotten things and Uranus in Pisces, distilling it (via photography) into a unique vision that was truly her gift.

If you cannot catch the movie, look at the pix on the Maloof site here. and be entranced.

Cayce So Carolina trains run amok

Amtrak derailed killing at least three on Sunday, February 4, 2018. Derailments are uncommon today, and rarely cause more than minor injuries, but here the engine of the Amtrak train, which had been carrying eight crew members and 139 passengers on its route from New York to Miami, was “barely recognizable, ” according to Governor Henry McMaster.

The purple lines are the YOD for the chart. The head is 20 Sagittarius where ASTEROID Toro, or the refusal to see danger. Notoriously bulls run at red. The apex is Asteroid Chaos, telling us that this most likely was a lack of cooperation (Venus rules the chart in the ninth of transportation) in communicating the switch change (Jupiter in the sixth here is the switch).Asteroid Hermes (for business) lies next to Asteroid Juno, which Marc Jones termed economics. Both asteroids work here as Amtrak is important for the nation’s economic health and CSX is a business enterprise. Both are found in the house of long distance travel, the ninth.

The Lexington County coroner, Margaret Fisher, identified the dead as two Amtrak employees train’s 54-year-old engineer, Michael Kempf, of Savannah, Georgia, & the conductor, Michael Cella, 36, of Orange Park, Fla. Both men were in the first car of the train.

Dozens of passengers were taken to a nearby middle school, where the American Red Cross set up a temporary shelter and passengers tried to make sense of what had happened aboard Train 91 at about 2:35 a.m. on Sunday. At a news conference Robert L. Sumwalt, the current N.T.S.B. chairman, ruled out foul play.

General Mark V. Rosenker, a former chairman of the N.T.S.B,1, said Sunday’s accident hinted at a “lack of safety culture” at Amtrak. Rosenker suspected that Sunday’s crash involved some discrepancy in the way CSX communicates with Amtrak.2

                    What happened?

On July 23, 2019, The National Transportation Safety Board determined that Amtrak’s and CSX Transportation did not properly assess or mitigate the risk of conducting switching operations during a signal suspension — the signal system was down. And far worse, the failure of the CSX conductor to realign the switch (man error).

Footnotes:

  1. Major General . Roseker has an CBS page here documenting his career.
  2. Despite what General Roseker, nicknamed the Master of Disaster, thought, Amtrak was not at fault and his comments rather discrediting to the railway. I saw no apologies from him on them.

Lent & Padre Pio

Biograph

Francesco Forgione was born in a small town called Pietrelcina, near Benevento outside of Naples in Southern Italy, He was fifth of eight children. At an early age, he had celestial visions &  spoke with Jesus and the Virgin Mother.  He was also tormented by the devil to turn away from the Heavenly visions.

Francesco helped his family by looking after livestock until he was 10 years old,  and gained a limited education. When he first applied to join the Capuchin order, he was knocked back because of this lack, so he worked in exchange for private lessons from a local schoolmaster. Upon graduation, he was able at 15 to enter the Capuchin Friars at Morcone, where he took the name Friar Pio.

The Capuchins are an offshoot of the Franciscan order, founded by St Francis of Assisi — the current Pope Francisco took his name from him. They seek to return to extreme austerity, simplicity, and poverty envisaged by St Francis, Francesco in Italian.  After entering the Friary of St Francis, Pio experienced severe illnesses and moments of religious ecstasy. It was said that strange sounds could be heard from his room. Padre Pio said he was frequently attacked by the devil and the sounds were from the battles taking place.

On  August 10, 1910,  he was ordained a Priest in the Cathedral of Benevento and eight years later on September 20, 1918,  while he was praying in front of a Crucifix located in the choir in the hutch, an angel gave him the stigmata. The stigmata remained opened and bleeding for the next fifty years. This was one of the reasons for which doctors, scientists, journalists went to San Giovanni Rotondo to observe this miracle.

Like most monks, Father woke up in the early morning to get himself ready for the Holy Mass. He arose at  4 a.m.and inevitably there were always hundreds and sometimes even a thousand people waiting for the door of the church to open and receive his blessing.  After the Mass, he used to spend most time of his day in prayer and confessions.  After fifty years of stigmata, he died September 23, 1968, at 2:30 am when transiting Ceres (08 Aries) was exact to his North Node (09 Aries) and his transiting North Node (23 Leo) was exact his Ascendant (21 Leo).

Southern Bowl

The dear Padre is a bowl temperament type, with everything in the Southern hemisphere of his chart, giving him a very public life.  His ascendant is 08 Scorpio 17, suggesting that while he was a recluse at heart, he overcame his personal preferences for his performed his obligation to the hundreds of pilgrims who came to see him tirelessly and with inexhaustible patience (Neptune part of the stellium at 28 Taurus — a man pursued by others, a symbol of eternal promise from others.

Scorpio 09,  his ascendant, “Dental Work,”  hints at the pain he suffered.  We know of no one who finds visiting the dentist anything but a necessary evil, and Dr. Jones writes this is the “self-renewal one must engage in to fulfill a higher mission.” This is obviously the stigmata.

                              The Crowded House

The crowded 7th house that is striking because it is found in a celibate priest’s monk and so many planets —  Mars, Neptune, Mercury, Pluto and the Sun — suggests lots of opportunities and relationships.  Instead, a stellium hear is the opposite –individuals with a 7th House stellium are least least likely to marry.

This is because too many energies come into the life that they cannot commit to a person — these opportunities and endeavours swallow them whole and they find themselves loners needing solace and time alone to recover.  Still, this aspect is often a sign of someone committed to others in an advisory role like a solicitor, psychologist or consultant.

Chiron is in the eighth house, separated by the dotted green line on the online chart, at 23 Gemini 33 “children skating on thin ice” is about the pious Father’s surrender to circumstance and accepting his burdens as they were and not capitalizing on them for personal gain. Undoubtedly many such offers did come his way.

While the Ascendant gives Padre Pio’s outlook on the world, the Moon in the 8th house, tells of his public devotion to the Church, while the Sun at 04 Gemini 05 a “radical well” was his will at succeeding in his devotion despite the outer compulsions that tried to swerve him away. Mercury is the Lord of the sign of Gemini, the priest’s Sun, so the stellium actually are helping him in his faith by buttressing it with strong support, giving the Father strong mental resilience to doubt and vexation from others, including Old Nick himself.

He reposed on September 23, 1968 San Giovanni Rotondo, Foggia, Italy . His funeral was attended by over 100,000 of the faithful. He was beatified, the first step in canonization, on 2 May 1999, Saint Peter’s Square, Vatican City by the late Pope John Paul II.
