Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg RIP

TODD HEISLER – NEW YORK TIMES

Ginsburg dies

Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, the second woman to serve on the Supreme Court and a pioneering advocate for women’s rights, died of complications from metastatic pancreas cancer on on Friday, Sept. 18, 2020. She was 87.

Ginsburg had announced in July that she was undergoing chemotherapy treatment for lesions on her liver, the latest of her several battles with cancer. President Bill Clinton appointed her to the bench following Sandra Day O’Connor’s retirement.

The justice, who was not known to be overtly religious, also coincidentally died on Rosh Hashanah, the start of the Jewish New Year. This comes from the Old Testament and the book of Leviticus 23:23-31. Because religious Jews count their days at sunsets, Rosh Hashanah started at sunset on Friday, 1 Tishrei, 5781 and ended two days later also at sunset on Sunday, Sept. 20 or 3 Tishrei 5781. Chabad.org, gives greater information this.

Buried in Arlington Nat’l

She will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at a private service next week. While Madame Justice is not a military veteran, Ginsburg is eligible to be buried at the largely military cemetery., next to her husband, an Army veteran, who died in 2010. Thirteen Supreme Court justices are also buried in Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s backyard.

Our original post on Justice Ginsburg took Lois Rodden’s Pisces Ascendant which I found did not work with most of her life event’s as noted in her autobiography, so I rectified her 20 Taurus or the Hyperion Symbol of “Time Zones in a Foreign Country.”

Consideration of Time Zones

That symbol seems strange for a US Justice but she made her self clear more than once that she thought the American Constitution was outdated and biased and preferred the South African Constitution. At the time, the quote is above, she was clear that the American was too vague on its expectations from its citizens while the South African precisely states the rights and duties of its citizens, as well as defining the structure of its Government. That attitude strikes me as a rather fixed personality; it definitely is not the hallmark of a mutable who prefers things to be open and flexible to fit the times and needs of society.

The outer chart above is about the time when the Justice died. It has been hard to get an actual time so I settled on this one — the earliest I could find of a major national paper announcing her death. Based on the aspects between the two charts, I think she died earlier that morning; possibly around 8:30 am.

This last chart is her rectified natal.

Ginsburg’s natal chart has no interceptions; she stated clearly who she was and what she believed, something she had in common with President Trump, also a rising fixed (Leo) sign. She was agreat friends with politically opposite, Antonin Scalia.

Our condolences to her family, friends and admirers of whom there were many.

This was updated on Friday, September 25th with further information about RBG’s interment. There still is no mention of the day, though I imagine it is today, based on reports that President Trump will announce her replacement on Saturday and he has said he would wait until she was buried.

#J41 Margaret Anglin, an early Broadway feminist success

Born Mary Warren Anglin on April 3rd, 1876 in Ottawa, Ontario, it was as Margaret Anglin she found Broadway success. The youngest of nine children of newspaper editor and politician Timothy Warren Anglin (1822–1896) by his second wife, Ellen MacTavish it doesn’t seem much of her child hood destined her for the stage except being held by Oscar Wilde, novelist cum playwright, a guest of her father, when she was six years old,  probably during Wilde’s first visit to America via the SS Arizona in 1882, when he conducted a 140 Lecture Tour across North America (US and Canada).

Margaret Cameron’s famous portrait of Margaret Anglin

Her parents then sent to her Toronto and Loretto Abbey and then the Convent of the Sacred Heart, Montreal. There are not any records that record Mary’s sudden love of the stage, but perhaps there was a high school paly that she was in that sparked the interest because next we find her is graduating from the Empire School of Dramatic Acting, New York City in 1894. Located within the Chas. Frohman Empire Theatre, she studied under Nelson Wheatcroft, a famous actor turned dramatic teacher.

Under his tutelage, her acting skills brought the attention of the impresario Charles Frohman who provided her with the opportunity to make her professional stage debut. She changed her name to Margaret Anglin because it took up more billboard space, and in the Bronson Howard production of “Shenandoah,” the Civil War pacificist play, she won wide acclaim.

                                                 The Anglin-Hull Marriage

Howard Hull

Miss Anglin met future husband, Howard Hull of Kentucky, presumably through the business though little is know about his career but his brothers were all in theatre so we must imagine it was through various connections they met. The couple was married May 9, 1911 in New York City at St. Patrick’s Cathedral. Her Part of Fortune Marriage is conjunct her Saturn as is the Part of Legality and it was through her nuptials she became an American citizen.

Most of Broadway attended the gala affair as did some nascent movie stars most likely because the couple was well connected: Hull was the older brother both of Shelly (husband of Josephine Hull of Arsenic and Old Lace & Harvey fame) and Henry the John Ford character actor. and while he is listed as an actor, but little could be found on Howard’s career or Shelly’s.

Mary MacLaren and Stanhope Nelson Wheatcroft

Hull became her manager, and so took a backstage to his talented wife, who was center stage acting or backstage herself producing, and directing many Broadway plays that were typically large affairs with huge casts, elaborate sets and best of all, great reviews.  Then in 1927 Margaret began making demands (the Thor’s Hammer from the Sun to the Moon to Jupiter strikes supported by part of self-undoing conjunct her ascendant) that Howard, be given parts in her plays, it was not an unusual request Hollywood is filled with nepotism but they denied her request. Furious, she walked out of two major productions despite the entreaties and adverse publicity.

Broadway got its revenge and for eight long years she did get any Broadway work until Ivor Novello (born David Ivor Davies), a Broadway sensation, cast her in 1936 in his Fresh Fields plays where she once again she received great critical acclaim. Author Lillian Hellman, Dashiell Hammett’s wife, put Anglin in Watch on the Rhine at the Royal Alexandra Theatre in Toronto.

Rectification to Slave Girl demanding her Rights

We rectified Miss Anglin’s birth time to 8:05 in Toronto and that seems to fit her career and life well and gives her the Ascendant of 11 Gemini or a slave girl demanding her rights which fits well as she was not only the actor on stage but often also the director & producer and probably the first woman to fill these roles simultaneously and successfully (Mary Pickford followed suit in film).

Anglin is a locomotive. A mutable T-Square from the first house stellium to the seventh gets a point focus in the tenth at Saturn in 03 Pisces 55 highlighting both her Line of Momentum and restless spirit accentuated by her Grand Trine in Fire. Her Harmonic 7th Chart shows a mutable Grand Cross that reflects as both a woman and a foreigner she was bitter about her second standing. Anglin’s Line of Motivation, Jupiter to Saturn, focuses on her growth within partnerships, like with her husband Howard. and later Novello. Perhaps both those issues had her force her hand with Howard in the play, knowing that men often put their lovers in roles ahead of talented actors.

Anglin’s Harmonic seventh chart

Both charts show her strong preponderance toward water signs, a good barometer for the acting life, and Jupiter in the seventh highlights her facility to juggle unique roles easily. Her Sun is trine her Moon in the fourth house demonstrates her knowledge of both the physical setup of the stage and public reaction to fuel her inner creativity and with her Moon sextile, her Ascendant in the first house it gives her the ability to play different roles as she needs to fulfill her dreams.

Miss Anglin’s final chart. I picked 8 am arbitrarily but there are many interesting points nonetheless on the chart, suggesting she was in a rest home at the end because of her health. Her progressed Jupiter is conjunct her natural Saturn and her progressed Galactic Sun conjunct her NGalataic Sun with her Part of Fortune for both charts just 10 degrees away suggesting at 82 years old, she was ready and missed Howard.

After her husband  died, Miss Anglin returned to Canadian Theatre where she reposed on January 7, 1958. Despite her friendship with Mary Pickford, she did not make any moving pictures.

C170 First Lady, Mrs. Melania Trump

Melania Trump was born Melania Knaus in what was then the artificially created Yugoslavia, and is now Slovenia on April 26, 1970.

We have rectified it 02 Scorpio for her rising — keyword is Absolution, probably hinting at her strong Roman Catholic faith and a turning from the jaded world of fashion to philanthropy. The symbol itself is evocative: is a beautiful bottle filled with perfume lies on its side, slowly dripping out its contents on thread worn carpet, suggesting her desire to share generously the many gifts she has gained.

Melania’s train

We could not resist using the photo of Mrs. Trump’s twelve foot wedding train here, because she is a Locomotive temperament type as outlined in Jones’s The Guide to Horoscopy. She a Grand Trine in Earth, Uranus in the eleventh, her atypical career path to First Lady as a model, to Saturn in Taurus, her marriage and attraction to an older man, and finally culminating with her Moon in Capricorns, or childhood dreams of what she may become.

Her part of fortune at 05 Cancer 51 in Sagittarius — A pioneer family sets up a new homestead as the wife arranges stuffed animals in the nursery, and her husband builds a high fence around the house. It would seem walls were in her destiny.

Opposite her Moon at 09 Capricorn 59, it would seem the clarion call of  fertility — two captains arguing about the course of the ship — was a major part of the  decision to get married to Donald J. Trump sr. (appropriately enough, in January 2005)  and have children (Barron William Trump born March 2006).

  • Her Line of Vitality, the aspect between the luminaries, is trine, giving her long life and robust health.
  • Her Line of Efficiency, the aspect between Mars and Venus, is conjunct, making her a steadfast marriage partner.
  • Her Line of Motivation, the aspect between Jupiter to Saturn, is absent.
  • Her Line of Culture, the aspect between Neptune and Uranus, is a biseptile, highlighting the difference in age between herself and her husband and her adaptation to a new country and culture.

C134 Cory Booker from New Jersey

Senator Booker started his career working for the Urban Justice Center in New York City, from there, jumped over to nearby Jersey and now is back in his hometown of DC. Does he have any other changes of address in the future?

With his degree from Yale Law, Cory’s first job was in Urban Justice, but quickly decided to run for a seat on the Newark City Council in 1998, where he surprised many by defeating a longtime incumbent, Mayor Sharpe James, himself originally from Jacksonville, Florida. Booker ran on a law and order ticket, and claimed he would clean up Newark and make it a liveable city again. With all the money that Prudentiall Insurance was pouring in to revitalizaing the city, rebuilding an opera center, putting in the Double AA baseball team the Newark Bears , named for the old 1937 team, (they folded the same year that Booker went to Washington) , those were word that honey to the voter’s ears; James on the other hand ran on his personality and being a known quality.

Cory, mother Carolyn, (his father had already passed from Parkinson’s) unknown, Veep Biden, unknown, brother Cary when Cory was sworn into the Senator by Biden October 13, 2015.

The newcomers in Newark did not buy that song and the race was the focus of the acclaimed documentary Street Fight (2005), highlighting the race of Booker against the incumbent Sharpe James. Booker attacked James’s salary of more than $200,000, his boats, his two vacation homes and his 1980 Rolls-Royce. ”We invested well and we’re very frugal,” James responded said. But Mr. Booker pointed to Newark’s deficiencies in education, health and crime. Booker did not only claim he was better suited to move Newark forward his Twitter magic made him a household word. All of this catapulted Cory onto the national scene, and a second bid, in 2006, was very successful. As mayor, he garnered national attention for initiatives on gun control, a major issue of his (see Mars in the 10th house in Sagittarius highlighting firearms in his car

After assuming office, Booker sought to combat an epidemic of drug abuse, and he took up residence in one of Newark’s most crime-afflicted areas. It was a great start to a political career culminating in running for mayor of Newark, but was defeated in 2002.

Cory’s Next Step

When Senator Frank Lautenberg died in 2013 from pneumonia, a special election on November 14, 2014 to fill Lautenberg’s U.S. Senate seat was held, and Booker won handily. Looking at the chart below , that was no surprise, he garnered a lot of financial support (2nd/8th axis) from large corporations (Mercury in Gemini in the 8th – business assisted by Saturn (established companies) in the 7th partile Venus the booty) and did not have to spend it all (he actually kept 25% of the haul) to get into the Senate (12th house preponderance). That war chest, helps with future senatorial bids and why once in office, incumbents always win.

After being sworn by then Vice President Biden. Sen. Booker is the first African-American Senator to be sworn in since the election of Barack Obama. Many feel that his Twitter popularity was a major help, but so was according to the AP his “fund-raising potential for the Democrat Party”. 1 https://go.gale.com/ps/retrieve.do?tabID=T004&resultListType=RESULT_LIST&searchResultsType=SingleTab&hitCount=4185&searchType=BasicSearchForm&currentPosition=6&docId=GALE%7CA445364764&docType=Brief+article&sort=Relevance&contentSegment=ZNEW-FullText&prodId=STND&pageNum=1&contentSet=GALE%7CA445364764&searchId=R1&userGroupName=pl1774r&inPS=true . The article continued the speculate as to how “Sen. Booker Congressional career would play out, ” and whom he would “choose to emulate.” After the morning oath, the House had a roll call and then Cory met with with President Obama for lunch.

Another Oxford Rhodes Scholar

Booker is not the first New Jersey Senator to be an Oxford Rhodes Scholar. That honor go to Senator Bill Bradley, who was also a former professional basketball player for the New York Knicksm but he is the first black senator from the Garden State.

Booker’s natal chart progressed to the Special Election. As it was a state race, the outcome was based for the New Jersey capitol, Trenton.

Cory was born on April 27th 1969 , time unknown, in Washington D.C. His parents were the first black sales executives for IBM and were based in its Federal Division. He has one elder brother Cary Booker II and both boys attended Northern Valley Regional High School at Old Tappan growing up near IBM’s headquarters at Armonk.

He attended Stanford University, where he studied political science (B.A., 1991) and sociology (M.A., 1992). He was awarded a Rhodes scholarship to the University of Oxford like former president William Jefferson Clinton, where he received a bachelor’s degree in history (1994). Upon his return, he attended Yale Law School, earning a doctorate in jurisprudence in 1997. He has no doubt a very prestigious resume.

Birds on the wing

Celestiology has rectified Senator Booker to an Aquarius ♒ 04 ascendant. The Hyperion symbol of Birds on the wing, highlight cooperation as paramount to facilitate anything worthwhile. The keyword Kent McClung gives is Safety that illustrates Cory’s cautiousness in his public life. While Cory is like John F. Kennedy, who also has Neptune at his midheaven, Cory on the other hand, has never really relayed his dreams to his constituency or when he was running for President the country at large. He was inside tentative and reserved and this led to him leaving the race early on.

This tendency could because his Neptune is opposite Mercury the Senator does not like being pinned down by them, they are another form of restraint, and if anything, Booker’s chart shows a strong dislike of checks and curbs on his behaviour. This has led many to suggest he is homosexual — he doesn’t even like to get pinned down with a partner, until recently with Miss Rosario Dawson, and his flippant comment “So what if I am,” does not help the matter.

His ascendant is also inconjunct his moon, suggesting he plays to the gallery and “mugs it up.” This is a good example of where he dared the Senate to throw him out for breaking senatorial rules. It did not happen and Senator Booker knew that and it made for good talking points but it also made many look skeptically at him just like his call for “Defunding the Police”,. contrary to his strong law and order position in Newark.

Booker: ‘I’m knowingly violating the rules’ and am releasing documents

The Booker Chart

Senator Booker is a see-saw temperament type, as if one couldn’t already guess. His Neptune is right near his Midheaven giving him a good voice and pleasing appearance his North Node is in Pisces in the 2nd house highlighting his need to become more compassionate and less flippant with others. While he is methodical and detail oriented in his work, his emotional distance from those around him, particularly women, as Venus is conjunct, make him seem uncaring and distant.

Celestiology’s rectified chart for Senator Booker.

His Line of Vitality is trine showing how easy things are for him, and that he takes that for granted, and not work as hard as he should.

His Line of Efficiency is trine suggesting he procrastinates on everyday things; he is not very attentive day to day and only wakes up when something inspires him or is urgent. While this makes him a good firefighter, without follow-up, things will quickly fall into disarray, again.

His Line of Motivation is sesquiquadrate showed in the clip above that he is highly aggressive and often baits others. That does not always work out to his advantage as the two planets cover the third and eighth houses ,so his taunts are often ignored like a gnat and his grandstanding becomes tedious. It also makes him enwrapped in his own snares.

The last line of Social Significance — or how Booker interacts with society is sextile between the eighth, other people’s money, and the tenth, his dreams, houses. The eighth house shows up a lot with this four Sabian lines and tells how he relies heaving on shows on he relies on networking and the social constructs of politics for his advantage.

Marc Jones wrote that people born from 1962 to 1971 work best with others because they are so receptive to ideas.

The transits of Cory

His current transits are below

His progressed chart to around Election Day 2020, see the yellow wheels above, do not look like he’s going anywhere. The stellium in the sixth house with Virgo is suggesting he needs to work hard to overcome his tendency, shown best by his opposing part of fortune at 25 Pisces 02 ala Sepharial, he is too “assured in his success” and “he walks through life fully suited in armour with a regal bearing.”

Shades of Grey: artist Aubrey Beardsley

Biograph:

Aubrey Vincent Beardsley was an Art Nouveau artist who died at the beginning of the 20th century from tuberculosis on the French Riviera. He had gone there to help improve his weak lungs, but it was too little too late, and he died shortly after arriving.

He was born August 21, 1878 at 11:22 am in Brighton. He had a younger sister Mabel. Both his parents were well-to-do but lost their money through a serious of miscalculations. His mother, Ellen (Pitt) Beardsley was an accomplished pianist and painter of silhouettes. Before discovering his penchant for drawing, he was a musical prodigy (Neptune in the 3rd) and with Mabel help augment the family’s poor earnings. That changed when he was diagnosed with tuberculosis (poetically called the “Dark Shadow” ) and was sent away to a school in Sussex to regain his respiratory strength. This was to be a life-long issue for him.

Being grey

If Samuel Morse Whistler, a famous American artist living in London, wore all white, Mr. Beardsley, far younger than the famous Whistler, made his signature dove gray. The picture above is painted in his typical attire, which was considered only appropriate by the British upper classes as “morning attire.” One changed for tea and if dining out again for evening dinner. Beardsley, forever the artist, refused to come out of his morning wear (mourning?), a premonition perhaps that he would die in his youth.

Chart Highlights

We have rectified his chart to an Ascendant of 12 Scorpio, that has the symbol of A Gold Rush.” Marc Edmund Jones writes that this symbol is the “exploration of one’s natural resources through personal initiative” and offers high rewards for the person genuinely willing to challenge his own human skills for their own good fortune.

Mr. Beardsley was an astounding illustrationist tapping into Toulouse Lautrec’s florid cartooning of Moulin Rouge but all in black and white. He said to have come to this idea by seeing Japanese Ukiyoe (i.e. Floating World) Art that was coming to London from Paris. Ukiyoe is a pen and ink drawing, that is colored by various washes applied over the picture (see the gallery above).

Temperament Type

Mr. Beardsley is a splay or as Robert Jansky re-termed it his Planetary Patterns, a Tripod temperament type for it is dominated by a grand trine (Saturn in its ruler to Mercury in Virgo to Pluto in Taurus).  He also has no oppositions in his chart, though several conjunctions.  He is not a bucket because typically the handle is opposed to something in the bowl.

Focal Determinators

Saturn is the High Focus for Beardsley according to Dr. Marc Edmund Jones, a planet that through its position in the chart dominates it.  In Aubrey’s chart, it is in the southern hemisphere and the 11th house conjunct his ascendant. It is a point in his Earth Grand Trine & part of his Line of Personality (the aspect between Jupiter to Saturn) where it is inconjunct (Saturn is in its Lord Capricorn while Jupiter in Leo in the 5th).

Marc Jones work is a process of unfoldment and so names and keywords often changed throughout his works. No one book is the culmination of his astrological thought — they are to be read as a sum. Hence, what were “lines” in his Guide to Horoscopic Interpretation, where he discusses his planetary patterns and the 4 astrological lines, in his next work, Astrology, How and Why it works, they morphed into departments.

The first of these is the Line of Vitality, that documents the aspect between the Moon to Sun. In Aubrey’s chart it is trine suggesting he had an easy relationship with others and was well-liked but OTOH could like his tell-tale grey be too much of a chameleon in life and never fully growing up. This would have encouraged him to stay “put” both figuratively via his art and in location.

Jung on self-awareness; Jones and his friend Rudyhar were big followers of the psychologist.

The next line is Self-Determination between Jupiter and Saturn – his focal determinator. This department reveals Beardsley’s personality and how it make itself known i.e. self-awareness. As it is inconjunct it not synchronously with his artistic and personal yearnings (dreams) but were stifled and out of step with his inner soul. This is probably because his Line of Vitality was too agreeable with outward society and he was scared to break with his patrons and what they wanted from him.

Unfortunately, that is not uncommon in one’s personal or professional life –the status quo is hard and unrelenting — and the major reason J. K. Rowling (ascendant Sagittarius 08) chose the pen name of Robert Galbraith when writing her non-Potter books. Her line of self-determination is stronger but more constructive than Beardsley’s as it is square.

and Departments

Beardsley’s Line of Social Significance is from Uranus at 04 Leo in the 6th to Neptune in the 3rd and is not aspected — the orb is too wide and suggest as he got older he began to see his “lost opportunity” (Aries 12) by remained in his “stylized garments” too long (Leo 04) & needing to break out and establish his own vision. Jones writes that this is emblematic of a native who wishes re-establish himself in his own world and his own efforts rather than continuing to live another’s.

                long after he died

the pall ofcurtains — shutting out light.

Chiron was discovered long after Beardsley died, so while the asteroid is at 14.34 Aries on his, it is an interesting footnote for it shows where Beardsley felt the remorse:  in his house of work and health.  Because of his health that he could not draw as much as would like and Chiron’s  image of a “dark curtain casting a pall” according to  Charubel suggests an “early death.” Indeed for him it was : he died at 26 in the Southern France.

The Midheaven

Beardsley’s Midheaven shares is Scorpio 23, showing how much fame in his artistic career meant to him. He was ambitious and in his lifetime found critical acclaim and publication. It is trine his Sun at 29 Leo,a merman “seeking and responding to the creative” side of life; Charubel says this symbol is a “large white piece of paper” where the native is scribbling.
