Emmanuel Kant was born April 22, 1724 in Königsberg, near the southeastern shore of the Baltic Sea. Today Königsberg is Kaliningrad, Russia, sandwiched between Lithuania in the north and Poland to the south, with the Baltic Sea on the west and Belarus to the east. It has no history with the Slavic Republics.

During Kant’s lifetime Königsberg was the capital of Eastern Prussia, and its dominant language was German. While geographically remote from the rest of Prussia Königsberg was nonetheless a major commercial center, an important military port, and a relatively cosmopolitan university town.

Kant’s philosophical treatises

His basic premise is that metaphysics is independent of experience and to prove his point he defines metaphysics as “the cognitions after which reason might strive independently of all experience.” His goal is the “decision about the possibility or impossibility of a metaphysics in general, and the determination of its sources, as well as its extent and boundaries, all, however, from principles”

Surprisingly, this is heavily supported by his ascendant in Aquarius, which was discovered in his lifetime and is found in his eighth house where he creatively repurposed Platonic dialogues. His grand trine in earth starts with Saturn in its rulership at 10 Capricorn 45 sextile his Uranus. Saturn is trine to Pluto at 26 Virgo 02 in the seventh house and then trines again to Neptune at 28 Taurus 08, thus making Uranus a wildcard in the trine and throwing off its typical practical bent into something new.

Kant has two preponderances that dominate his chart and also support his grand trine. The first is the retrogression, ¹ Preponderance is a Marc Edmund Jones creation that we have found very helpful showing how Kant was always looking and reviewing the past to see how pertinent it was today’s knowledge or could be even improved. That works well as his three critiques of Reason, huge treatises, dispute traditional Platonic dialectics; it has remained the dominant political theory since then.

Preponderance by Septile; the seventh harmonic

The second preponderance is the dominant aspect of a septile within the chart, which is also philosophic degree, marked by astrologer-philosopher John Addey’s seventh harmonic; that chart is below and shows a strong preponderance in Taurus. Notice, the midheaven point is now in the eighth house at 25 Pisces 15, highlighting how Kant was both fearless and headstrong concerning his work which at the time received lots of antagonistic peer reviews.
