A new scientific report has debunked astrology claims that Saturn is moving in Pisces in March 2023 after several outlets reported about the same event. Here’s the chart from Philadelphia, Home of the Philadelphia Flower Show. This years theme is Philly goes Electric for Ben Franklin .
Read moreAs you can see on the chart Saturn is at 00 Pisces 10 today March 8, 2023 but New York Post, reports this is not exactly true, and will not happen until April 2025, and is being report incorrectly because soon it will go retrograde? or is it because of precession the event has not happened?
Precession of the equinoxes
Hipparchus 2nd century BC discovered “precession of the equinoxes” and calculated it to affect the of 50 2/3 seconds per year. Ptolemy of the Tetrabiblos made the number a bit higher. Tycho Brahe and Abbé Nicolas-Louis de Lacaille both said 50 1/3 seconds while Jean Baptiste Joseph, chevalier Delcambre said it was a 50.1 seconds.
The problem with all these calculations is that since this motion is extremely slow, its exact amount can be discovered only by a comparison of observations separated from each other by long intervals of time; but the imperfection of instruments prior to the sixteenth century 1 the chevalier Delcambre is the only post 16 century claim makes ancient observations with such small differences hard to tell apart.
Precession is important because astronomers count the signs from the vernal equinox, which by definition is always the first point of the Sign of Aries. If instead the sun and moon moved to be on the same plane as the equator, there would be no precession. But as the effect of their actions vary then twice a year the sun has no effect on precession, at the equinoxes, and twice a year, at the solstices, it has the maximum effect . This makes the plane of the equator subject to an irregular solar motion called Solar Nutation, which is also imperceptible to the human eye. Modern physicists and their million dollar toys have calculated precession to be the same as the Chevalier Delcambre or 50.1
So why are astrologers off? Because it is a historical not technical study and thus while astrologers know precession exists they have never input into their calculations. Quite simply we ignore it.
So is Saturn in Pisces or Aquarius. Aquarius astronomically but what does that mean to us? Our charts have been fine without precession for thousands of years. Like the Julian/Gregorian Easter date debate eventually it will matter, 2 Eventually the Gregorian Easter will still be in March while the Julian Orthodox one will be sometime in July but so will Passover, and to be honest, no Orthodox I’ve known cares. Funny yes, concerned? No. but probably not in our lifetime.
In the meantime with astrology are dealing something not quite scientific but something intangible and unmeasured, and yet very measurable and sensate. So yes the chart is right. But one it won’t because someone will correct the software/calculations and makes them wrong. No matter, I will not be updating my charts, someone else can make those rectifications. Best of luck.
