C196 Dithering John Durham

U.S. Attorney John Durham may wait until after the 2020 presidential election to make his conclusions public on the Ukraine-gate scandal because as his ascendant shows, Aries 30, he needs to get his ducks all set up in a row. This meticulousness borders on procrastination and indecision — aka who can he afford to hurt more — is further shown by Venus in Aquarius in the tenth house — a constant gathering of information, and data so that his decisions and career remain unimpeachable.

John Henry Durham was born on March 16th 1950 in Boston and went the liberal arts college Colgate University in New York State and then Univ of Connecticut for his law degree after which he was a VISTA (a JFK created service organization i.e. Volunteers in Service of America) volunteer for two years (1975–1977) on the Crow Indian Reservation in Montana. He is a Red Sox fan and his wife Susan and he live in Groton, where his alma mater also is located.

Stoolie’s and the Law

Durham has no planets in either their rulership or exaltation. He great talent in networking well (the eleventh house preponderance) and is sympathetic to those who wield power (Mercury to Midheaven) but it is his ability to resort to dodgy tactics to trap (or entrap) his victim (Mercury opposition Saturn in the creative 5th house) through the use of informants that makes him a prosecutor that is hard to beat.

Durham’s use of stoolies was so renown in the Whitey Bulger case that Martin Scorsese made it a movie starring Matt Damon, Mark Wahlberg & Leonardo DiCaprio called “The Departed.” 1 Spoiler: Jack Nicholson plays Whitey in the movie and does a superb, if not unnerving, job. The main informants are Matt Damon, and Leonardo DiCaprio, though there are many others, known and unknown throughout the movie, making it a series of interconnected jigsaw puzzles .

While Durham’s methods may have been surprising, they were effective and Whitey Bulger, himself an FBI informant, was apprehended. The press hailed Durham as a hero for busting Bulger and President Clinton made him the U.S. Attorney General for the District of Connecticut.

Durham’s ascendant is opposite AG Barr’s and square President Trump’s.

This, and a few other high profile cases, led Attorney General William Barr tp picking John Durham to conduct an inquiry into the origins and conduct of the Trump-Russia investigation. Durham has recently said that he may wait until after November to reveal what he has found or to hand down indictments, according to sources cited by Fox News.

A source close to Durham said that he “does not want this seen as political” while Sen. Chuck Grassley, the chairman of the Senate Finance Committee and a longtime critic of the Trump-Russia investigations, warned waiting until after November’s contest might be too late and affect the election adversely. — the Washington Examiner. We argue that because of his over-cautious method he made dribble out convictions and leave the biggest when it counts least.

I updated this article on 1 September 2020 to reflect missing aspects and the latest news.

On August 14, 2020, Durham filed the first charge of his criminal inquiry against the primary FBI attorney assigned to provide legal support to the special counsel team led by Robert Mueller; this does not look too good for Mueller, but chances are it will not be making many headlines either.

C182 Skillful Michelle Obama

Michelle LaVaughn Robinson Obama was a very well loved first lady, typical of Splay Temperament types, so much so that many of her fans who heard her speak at the 2016 Democratic Convention want her to run in 2020.  She has said she will not, but politics is fickle and as Yogi Berra would say “the fat lady sings”. 1 It ain’t over till it’s over”, a popular quip of baseball player Yogi Berra’s. This is similar in spirit to “don’t count your chickens before they hatch

The political Michelle Obama

Young Michelle did not look to Washington for her heroes—she found them right at home. Her only sibling, a brother named Craig, was twenty-one-months her senior, provided an excellent example both inside and outside the classroom. Both their hardworking parents, Fraser Robinson III, a city water plant worker, and Marian Shields Robinson, a homemaker, pushed both children to excel.

Rejecting the easy option—to send their son and daughter to a convenient public high school—the Robinsons encouraged their athletic son to enroll in a parochial school with an outstanding basketball program and for Michelle, they decided the newly opened Whitney M. Young Magnet School offered a quality education that more than compensated for the daily three-hour commute.

As a racially mixed school, Michelle associated with classmates who came from all over the city, and she did well both academically and socially. She made the National Honor Society in her junior year and was elected treasurer of her senior class.

After graduation in 1981, Michelle followed her brother to Princeton, and like him, majored in sociology. Although one of the oldest colleges in America, Princeton had only accepted women as undergraduates in 1969, and African Americans were only admitted after World War II and still comprised only about 10 percent of the student body.

Even the “little sister” of a basketball star felt like an outsider, and Michelle saw herself as a “visitor on campus, as if I really  don’t belong.”¹

Betty Boyd Caroli
At six feet one inch, those legs never end.

She found little on her background other than through her mother she is a direct descendant of a male slave owned by a plantation in Alabama.  Nothing on her father’s side, so we imagine that they were free folks.

She went to Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, for her Bachelor of Arts and then onto Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts for her Juris Doctor degree.  She met her husband as his Senior Legal Advisor at Harvard University.

Later on, the Reverend Jeremiah Wright married them on October 3, 1992 in his Trinity United Church of Christ church, a social justice church, in Chicago; he parents raised her Methodist. The Obama’s joining TUCC makes sense, for it promotes universal health care, feeding the hungry, but also working to insure people are paid a living wage so they can care for themselves and their families; all hallmarks of her husband’s presidency.

After her husband’s election, Michelle Obama made more headlines because she was a Harvard-educated lawyer and former hospital executive, accustomed to bringing home a paycheck that exceeded her husband’s Senate salary, about $170, 000 per year, but now is a stay-at-home “mom in chief.” Unlike the only other attorney to become First Lady Hillary Clinton, Obama felt no need to feign culinary interests by talking about cookie baking, and instead used her first public event at the White House to celebrate a recent law extending workers’ rights.  This willingness to highlight one’s professional expertise made the 2008 election an important turning point for women and African-Americans as a whole.  ²

How to find my best place?

A subscriber asked Mr. Llewellyn George, “Why do the effects of planetary aspects seem to strike some places more than others?“

That is because some places have influences that coincide more with the nature of the aspect while others do not. Each country, city or village has its own horoscope, much the same as human living beings have, and the various lunations, eclipses and other celestial phenomena have effects proportionate to the influences of the stars just like certain people have susceptibility to certain planetary positions or aspects.

Best would be good if we could ascertain the horoscope of a place for its inhabitants, but the problem is the method — no one can decide which is best and works.

Here is an example: Sepharial used the Geodesic method for comparing individuals with the charts of cities for which would be best for their occupation or seeking a marital partner or their health. The Brotherhood of Light and C. C. Zain followed Sepharial with Doris Chase Doane writing a book giving the locations around the globe with attendant charts. You were to use this compendium and narrow down your best places.

But hold on about fifteen to twenty years later she did an about face and determined we should base a city and country’s aspect not on their location but on their incorporation or constitutional ratification. So what happens if you followed the first method, should you now change? Moving is expensive and not every town has jobs for you, or houses you can afford. And maybe the first method worked, then what?

And more recommendations

There are lots of books on the topic, and each one has a slightly different take. Here is a list of the ones I read via interlibrary loans.

  1. Zipporah Dobyns  typed “Planets on the Move: the Astrology of Relocation“;
  2. Jim Lewis wrote the “Astrology of Astro Carto Graphy”;
  3. Dan Furst did “Finding your Best Places”;
  4. Michael Erlewine wrote “Local Space Relocation“;
  5. Emma Belle Donath penned “Relocation”

Each one of the books put me in a different place, or a series of possibles, but places I could not fathom me moving because they did not fit other requirements like air quality, cultural benefits (I’m sorry but I do not consider a sports stadium a cultural institution), and proximity of health care. I did far better using the Best Places website.

So which method is best? And here, like Mr. George writing way back in the 1920s, I recommend, go there and see. That one worked for me, though I still wonder if the grass isn’t greener somewhere else.

Updated on 1 September 2020 basically a grammatical fix.

The incredible Mr Limpett, Don Knotts

Jesse Donald Knotts has all the elements of a Splay Temperament Type — a Grand Trine in Fire, no oppositions and a charming personality. Asteroid Hebe partile Pluto shows how he imbued his characters, Barney Fife in the Andy Griffith Show with his fake bravado and child like wonderment that was as hilarious as it was embarrassing.

Asteroid Photographia (HS pioneers going west for a new frontier) conjunct his ascendant is surprising; Knotts was not a handsome man and the black moon Lilith nearby suggests this bothered him, but his plastic features took on a form and function of their own (Saturn at 27 Libra keyword Enchantment) that made him one of the most popular comedians of all time.

Haven’t a clue what time he died, this is just for study.

His ascendant 14 Gemini gets the Hyperion Climbers above the timber line, where his physical comedy (Terpsichore in Virgo) is enjoyable if not surprising like this scene from The Incredible Mr. Limpet (asteroid Poseidon conjunct his Moon in Aries in the eleventh) where his dreams and exasperation take a very unexpected turn.

Don had two children with his first wife, his college sweetheart. Daughter Karen continues the comedic line while sonTom became an electrical engineer. Born in Cancer, Don died from lung cancer in the sign of the fishes, appropriately enough, on February 24, 2006 in Los Angeles. Thankfully we have reruns.

Jun 20 2020 Annular Solar Eclipse @ Xiamen Bay

Last month on June 20, 2020 at 4:10 am the maximum point of the annular solstice eclipse passed through Xiamen Bay, China (our header picture is of the Zheng-Chngong Memorial Hall) that got 98% coverage. Our header is of Zheng-Chengong Memorial Hall on Xiamen Bay, China. Xiamen China is 389 miles away from Hong Kong and 221 miles from Taipei, Taiwan.

Solar eclipses are total, in which the Moon completely covers the Sun, or annular, in which the Moon obscures all but an outer ring of the Sun. Which one occurs depends how the distance between the three because of Earth’s elliptical orbit around the Sun, and then how the Moon travels around the Earth.

The proverbial “ring of fire” or an annular eclipse from NASA. The bright day glo orange is the SUN. The black orb is our Moon and we both watching and participating in it from the Milky Way.

When the Sun is nearest to Earth but the Moon is at or near its greatest distance (see below where the Moon is inconjunct), the Moon appears small in comparison to the Sun (the distances of these objects are the key because in reality the Sun is enormous and nothing can hide it) and cannot cover the Sun completely, creating a rim of light and an annular eclipse.

The pirate called Koxinga

The June eclipse could best be seen from Xiamen Bay, which is where a memorial is for Zheng Chenggong, (the Wade-Giles romanization is Cheng Ch’eng-kung) is found. Our header picture shows the memorial park gates floating in water as lands and sea dissolve into one.

Zheng was born Aug. 28, 1624, Hirado, Japan (died June 23, 1662, Taiwan), and was a famous pirate leader of Imperial Ming forces against the Manchu conquerors of China. He is best known for establishing Chinese control over Taiwan which makes sense as his Venus (acquisition) is partile the fixed star Regulus (we’ll ignore houses because I have chosen a default sunrise birth chart and they are possibly wrong).

Zheng’s title, Guoxingye (“Lord of the Imperial Surname”), was mispronounced by the Dutch into Koxinga.

The Xiamen Park is named for this Chinese pirate.

His Sun is opposite his Part of Fortune, something we have found in both he actress Ann Sheridan’s chart and Chief Justice John Roberts,’s. His Moon is opposite his Saturn in Leo, that is often a barometer of someone who has a dark cloud over their life like the composer Franz Schubert,1 while the proximity to Uranus makes Zheng often find himself in violent situations because his Venus which always wants what someone else has.

The Eclipse

Jupiter conjunct Pluto or searching everywhere for an answer whether it is for the Wuhan virus, the fate of Taipei or the US presidential election. The Hyperion ascendant of 12 Gemini Cape Canaveral before moon launch is telling for its anticipation of some great event. The PoF or the Sabian first mockingbird in spring suggests that faking it until you make it (courage in the face of adversity) is currently the best recourse. This chart is a bucket with a rare Mercury handle and omnious portent that the happy days of summer may be luring us and Taipei into a very bad fall. I would recommend to continue “prepping”.

June 30. 2020 ten days later, China unveiled a new law for Hong Kong late Tuesday that grants the authorities sweeping powers to crack down on opposition to Beijing at home and abroad with heavy prison sentences for vaguely defined political crimes. The law’s swift approval in Beijing signaled that Communist Party leader, Xi Jinping, is expanding his control over Hong Kong to quash pro-democracy protests that evolved last year into an increasingly confrontational challenge to Chinese rule.

The Hong Kong government issued the text of the legislation at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, after weeks of unusual secrecy surrounding the drafting of the law in Beijing. The law took effect immediately, even though the public was seeing it in full only for the first time.

from the New York Times. The Billboard announces to all drivers the new law.
The chart for the “new law” is a bucket with a Moon handle with the Moon conjunct the part of fortune at 15 Scorpio is the Investigative reporter in hot pursuit of the news with the keyword of Perseverance Perhaps but with the Moon in the eighth house, HK as we knew it, is a sweet memory.

This eclipse is in effect until the next one, a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse, later this year on Monday, November 30th right after the Presidential elections and Thanksgiving. C’ya then.

  1. Composer Franz Schubert suffered from maniac-depression but it seems that the depressive cycles overpowered his maniac ones so he was often despondent about his talent and his magnificent works. A real pity.

Goya, o boya!

Goya ran into some trouble this past week when its president endorsed President Trump. Looking at its chart, Goya is a conservative company supporting its traditional Hispanic market (see Pluto conjunct Venus in the tenth). Ceres in the fourth shows how strongly the company takes providing nutritional food to its consumers. Even its Part of Fortune at 17 Gemini 57 i.e. Gemini 18 Two Latin men speaking Spanish a symbol of everyday exclusivity strengthened not by intellectual distinctiveness but by cultural cooperation. The keyword is Difference and represents the mobilization of the self for greater objectives.

Goya is a Splash Temperament Type with a Grand Trine in Fire from Jupiter in the fourth to Saturn in the eighth to Neptune in the twelfth house. This heavily supports the Goya founders concern about their consumers losing their cultural heritage in great onslaught of the American experience and culture. As for its name, incredibly Asteroid Goya (for the painter and our header shot) is partile Neptune in the twelfth house. Oh boya.

John Brown Abolitionist

Surprisingly the Transcendentalists loved him

Ralph Waldo Emerson and Henry David Thoreau thought he was “Jesus come to life,” such was the aura around John Brown abolitionist. Born on May 9th, 1800 in West Torrington, Litchfield County, Connecticut, he was the third of six children to Owen and Ruth Brown. The first having died in infancy, the second was a girl named Anna, and then John was named for Owen’s father and grandfather.1

The Sword is mightier than the pen

I have John Brown pegged to 18 Libra or the Hyperion symbol of a “Church in the Andes” because his elevated standard call for some degree of separation or isolation. The keyword is Adherence because of maintenance of a consistent loyalty and faithful attachment to something larger and greater than his self. His Part of Fortunate at 01 Taurus 04 is a Ship’s compass or his unerring sense of direction that others mouth but he works hard to manifest.

The Browns desolate after their first son’s death, felt that this was a sign from God, and in the aftermath of the “great awakening” joined the Torrington Congregational Church. In 1804 the Brown family left Connecticut and moved west to Ohio’s Western Reserve where others in their congregation had gone and settled in Hudson, Ohio. He married his first wife, Dianthe Lusk, on June 21 1820. After bearing six children, Dianthe died in 1832 and John remarried Mary Ann Day on June 14, 1833.

Brown was executed on December 2, 1859 in Charles Town, West Virginia for his raid on Harper’s Ferry with “General” Harriet Tubman and their planned slave uprising. Frederick Douglass and Wm. Lloyd Garrison had both against the plan and recommended he consider different tactics.

Truth to Power

Garrison in particular believed in a nonviolent crusade because he felt bloodshed was evil and ungodly. He sought to bring the slaveholder, whom he considered an unregenerate sinner, to his knees and unto God by the sheer moral force of abolition argument. Douglasson the other hand, believed that bloodshed was inevitable because “in their proud hearts they could never give up their slaves unless a big stick was over their heads” but after touring around the North, particularly throughout Pennsylvania and Ohio advocating insurrection, Douglass was stunned to find his Yankees audience did not support that idea at all. Most were horrified by his suggestions, so that by 1859 and Brown’s Harper’s Ferry Raid, he had changed his tune and counselled Brown heavily against it.

Brown did not listen. Instead he crossed swords with US General Robert E. Lee with JEB Stuart under his command and was captured. Slaves in the area did not rise up to join him as he had thought, and two of his sons from Mary were killed; his son Owen from his union with Dianthe and named for his father, escaped. Brown’s exploits in Kansas “Bloody” Kansas have been noted previously here.

Ann Sheridan has “Oomph”

Ann Sheridan was a popular actress in the 1930s and 40s playing opposite such notables as Jimmy Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Errol Flynn.   By the 1950s her health sidelined her and after that she was forgotten.  She was born in Denton, Texas on February 21, 1915 at 1 am (two times are given for her on Astro.com 7 am and 1 am, I found that the 1 am time worked best so have chosen that for this article) the last of five children in what she called “a normal family”.

She was the great granddaughter of Philip Sheridan, the U.S. Cavalry General for Lincoln in the Civil War and who had been assigned for Reconstruction to Louisiana and Texas to bring them back into the “fold”. “

Ann” was her stage name taken from a character she played, but she was originally baptized “Clara Lou Sheridan.” Her ascendant at 26 Scorpio 54 gives her the symbol of ” Indians making camp” representing woman’s inexhaustible capacity for self-establishment and finding everything for success at hand — true she was quite talented. The keyword is Extemporaneous.

She has a preponderance in the third house for her many dramatic and singing roles but it is her high focus Venus in the second that marks her as a beauty, trine in the Moon in the sixth house, she easily became America’s dream girl with fans on both sides of the aisle and during the War became alongside Betty Grable, a favorite GI pinup girl and was cosmetic giant Max Factor’s “Girl of the Year” in 1939. Her film career was marked by playing against such notable male leads as Jimmy Cagney, Humphrey Bogart Ronald Reagan, & Errol Flynn.

But that Moon is also her nemesis and creates her dynamic square with Mars in the highly populated third, showing the flip side of the silvery goddess — bad health from the stresses and strains of work. It is possible this means alcohol to cope, (there is no record of this though), particularly as the Moon is sextile Neptune in the eighth.

Her high focus Venus gave Sheridan the ability to have an approachable persona with the audience. Unlike MarleneDietrich who was always hands off, Sheridan was personable and came across as the girl next door, even when the next door was on the shady side of town (the Dead End Kids series). Venus, the planet of acquisitions, paid off when her long-time partner, Steve Hannagan, died in 1953 and bequeathed her a cool 2.1 million dollars.

  • Her Line of Motivation is square.
  • Her Line of Culture is inconjunct.
  • Her Line of Efficiency is absent.
  • Her Line of Vitality is absent.

Ann died January 21, 1967 at 51, from liver cancer at home in San Fernando Valley, California. Her third husband, Scott McKay, this was also his third marriage, was by her side; they had been married six months. The funeral was private and held the following day according to the New York Times obit.
